Hi Gerard and Julian.
I guess you could say that High Speed Sync is actually
first and second curtain sync simultaneously! :-)
Julian,
Can you tell me how you know that the 550EX is
ignoring the 7E's flash exposure compensation? FEC
won't show up on the speedlite's LCD panel if it's set
only on the camera.
Unless of course you already have FEC set on the
550EX, in which case the speedlite WILL ignore FEC set
on any EOS body, not just the 7E.
If the Speedlite has no FEC set and the 7E has, how
did you pick up the lack of compensation? Was it from
comparing photo results or were you using a
flashmeter?
If this (body FEC) doesn't work, I'd like to know,
because when you set FEC, you assume it'll happen. If
it doesn't (when it should) it's too late once the
photo is taken. It also sounds like something that
canon should fix if it turns out to be the case (like
early EOS 3's underexposing)
I don't have my EOS 30 manual with me, but I'm
guessing that cf6=1 is setting rear curtain sync???
I'll have to try that one myself, although I usually
do it on the speedlite because it's easier (my
question about cf6 probably demonstrates that
sufficiently !!).
Regards
Gary
