Hi Julian,

I've decided that the 550EX can be a strange beast!

Some time ago I reported a problem with the FEC on my
550 using 1/2 stop increments, not the 1/3 stop I
expected. I eventually solved it by taking out the
batteries and setting a 1/3 stop FEC on the 550 off
camera, then attaching it to a camera and changing FEC
settings on the speedlite. Now it always works in 1/3
stop increments like I expected, regardless of whether
it has FEC set or not.

The only thing I've found is that I have to repeat
that process if I change batteries, otherwise it
reverts to 1/2 stops!

Another "it used to but now it doesn't" story.

Actually I usually have at least one of them every
time I take my car in for a service... :-/
Regards
Gary
