Hi Gary,
I just tried your suggestion, and the 550EX will give
1/3 step adjustments off the hotshoe (like the 430EZ).
Unfortunately, when I mount the 550EX on the Elan 7E,
the thing reverts back to the nearest 1/2 step as soon
as I start metering!
Yet another reason how the 550EX is mismatched to the
Elan 7E :-(
