Hi FCC, Jim and List,
If you twiddle the AF ring during AF, the camera seems to
misinterpret that your subject is moving, and can switch into
AI SERVO (Follow focus) mode.
This was a perpetual problem with my EOS 1000FN, and I was
forever switching in and out of AF/MF on the lens.
With a more advanced camera, there is the choice of using
CF4=1 or CF4=2. On the Elan 7E, it is even easier to switch
to ONE SHOT AF mode or use the DOF preview.
