You're right Chuck. I ordered one of the new ones with the horizontal option
last week after playing with it at a store. With the legs fully extended but
centre column down, using the 308 ball head, and with the 1v + booster, it
fell exactly to eye height for me with no adjustment. This makes it quick to
use when out touring etc as I don't have to adjust anything extra each time
I setup. The horizontal column is quite natty for shooting straight up or
down as well, not that I usually shoot that direction.
