Hi Julian,
Just discovered another weird thing that when the camera is turned OFF and
body cap put on, I saw from the totally dark viewfinder that some of the
focus points (6 out of 7) flashed when I pressed the shutter release botton
halfway. Not sure if this is normal or just another defect.
Unfortunately the camera can't be returned for replacement after the first
week. Seems a 'surgery' by Canon customer service is unavoidable :(
Bill.

Hi Bill,
Four seconds seems a bit long, even for ISO 6400! Can
you exchange your two-week old camera for another?
Your post prompted me to check my Elan 7E. With a body cap
and viewfinder cover, my Elan 7E meter reads 30" at ISO
100. If I index ISO 6400, the meter reads 0.7"
In other words, the camera is telling me the light level
inside the camera is close to EV -6.5
Canon's specifies the Elan 7 metering is correct between
EV 1 and EV 20, so perhaps the meter cannot be believed?

Alternatively, is it possible that the viewfinder data
display backlight be affecting the metering?
Cheers
Julian Loke
