Hi Julian and Bill!
I checked my EOS 500 and it reads in P mode:
@ ISO 6400 1" (changing 0.7 - 1 and setling at 1")
@ ISO 100 blinking 30" (underexposing)
if I leave viewfinder uncovered reads (depending on the camera position
in odher words how much light is comming through the viewfinder):
@ ISO 6400 from 1/45 to 1/1000
@ ISO 100 form 1" to 1/15
So stick your face close to camera back!!! ;-)
Good light
