Not really, but . . . in those instances where both bodies do the same thing,
IMO the 7 does them at least as well and sometimes better (AF, some AE). The
advantages of the 5 are: spot meter, PC socket, 1/8000 sec. shutter speed, flash
sync @ 1/200 sec., slightly more viewfinder coverage, interchangeable focusing
screens, its vertical grip has its own main dial, it's larger for those with
large hands, uses 2CR5 battery instead of CR123As.

IMO, no--unless you need one of the features listed above. Otherwise you're just
spending more $$ (possibly) for nine-year-old technology.

I don't think so. The 7 offers Canon's current (improved) AF and AE technology
(35 zones vs. 16), full compatibility with the E-TTL features of the 550EX
flash, a better viewfinder display, two additional focus points located above
and below the central row, wireless remote, is smaller and weighs less, has a
vertical grip that's also a battery pack, and has metal top and front covers.
And the Command Dial doesn't break (as far as we know).
For what it's worth, I had my EOS 5 for only 18 months, but I sold it (after
paying for a Command-Dial fix) and bought a 7 . . . and have no regrets. I
suppose if I had one body only I'd have been tempted by the 5's spot meter and
interchangeable focusing screens, but for my money the 7 is superior in most
respects, and certainly as a second body (in handling, the 7 is more like the
EOS 3 than is the 5).
