It is especially important to be careful not to DROP a
heavy lens/camera combo. My brother's fresh outta the
box, brand-spankin' new, booster-ized 1v suffered a
short fall onto the pavement at a road race in
Phoenix. Though the camera continues to work fine in
both electronic and mechanical terms, optically it's
out of whack as the bottom of the frame is not in
sharp focus.
He took it in to Canon to have it repaired, and
several days later it was returned as BER (beyond
economical repair)! The main casting is bent. Pro
cameras are tougher, but only up to a limit.
