re: the 28-200 they are F5.6 . For iso 400 film, at f11 you can maintain
shutter speeds of 1/800 in sunlight, so unless you shake a lot you don't
really need a tripod, or even a monpod.
When we travel to far off places of the world, I take my 70/200 f2.8L and
17/35L, lens, (plus my 24 TSE and 14L where architectural subject are
involved) however my wife travels with an Elan (EOS-100) plus a Tamron
28/200mm super (second generation), the body loaded with ISO 400 print
film. She almost never uses a tripod, and most of her shot are fine for
8x10 or larger prints.
