I could be wrong, but my understanding is that mirror vibration is most
prominent and usually only and issue between 1/8 and 1/15sec. Above those
speeds, it's too short to cause problems, and below those speeds, the longer
time interval without vibration keeps it from being and issue. Most folks
are in the tripod mode when using speeds slower than 1/15 and unless your
really steady and not using a tripod (ie trying to handhold with IS at these
speeds) it shouldn't be a factor. So, when I shoot with my Elan IIe slower
than 1/15 sec, I use MLU, and haven't yet tried to handhold my 28-135 IS at
these speeds.
