> From: "Tom DelRosario" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > * The general build quality of the lens seems to be much better than the other lenses I own. However, it is a little more difficult to mount onto the camera. Since it does mount, I don't think it is any problem, but it does require more force to get it on the camera.
I didn't notice any difficulty in mounting the 28-105mm on the Elan7e, just a nice smooth twist will do. How did you find the optical quality of this lens? At what apertures do you normally shoot? > * With all the talk about the low-light focusing ability of the Elan 7/7e, I must say that I took some shots at a party <snip> > "With the 420EX on the camera" Awww, that's not fair! ;-) Bought one 420EX after bad experiences with the AF. :-) Even after using the 420EX, focusing is not 100% spot on, as I can't always see the AF confirmation light in the viewfinder (wearing glasses; for shots of the fleeting moment of children's expression). So, Canon has succeeded in persuading me to get faster (more $$$$) lens to use with my Elan7e, and even got me to buy a 420EX just by having poor AF in their top amateur camera body. You can even turn off the main flash and only use the IR AF assist feature of 420EX, but my subjects become intrigued by the red light and often squint their eyes a little, giving an awkward look on their face even before the camera achieve focus. Gone was the shot. Other than that, Elan7e does a good job and I like it, hope you do too.
