Hi Gang,

You guys are still using "silver-based" thinking, where you make
the reproduction in one shot.

If instead you used the D30 to take a NUMBER of shots that SCAN
the surface, it would be possible to reconstruct a composite
MOSAIC using software. The MOSAIC could have arbitrary resolution,
depending on how many pictures you were prepared to take.

To get 18x24" at 300dpi would require 16 pictures with overlap:
4 rows and 4 columns. The stitched file would be over 100Mb in
size.
