Hi Jani,

Lens distortion can be corrected mathematically. Even chromatic
aberration, to some extent. Of course, if you start with a good
lens, like the EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro, the task is a lot simpler.
And if you use the same lens, the same factors can be used for
all the images in a mosaic.

Perspective changes can either be deliberate (e.g. orthographic),
or minimized by rotating the camera about the lens nodal point.
Pictures taken in such a manner can be remapped into different
projection, including cylindrical (e.g. swing lens), spherical,
and rectilinear.
