Bob That's like asking "which is the best vehicle, a ferrari or a tank. There is no single answer. What do you want to do with the lens? Is portability an issue. Do you want to be able to hand hold? Is it for sport, nature, snooping :o) Right now: that 400 sounds tempting (but then I already have the 300).
