You're mounting it using the tripod collar, right? If you have an 
Arca-Swiss type mount system, you might want to get the extended length 
plate and try sliding it back and forth until you find the center of 
balance. If you have a really light EOS (Rebel, etc.), it might not be 
counterbalancing the heavy lens enough.

You might want to think of upgrading to a pro level ball, like an Arca 
Swiss B1, etc. Or a Wimberly SideKick.
