Mike,

You may be using 1/200 seconds. Do not use that with studio flash.  Some of
them cannot sync properly.
Use 1/60 and you should not have any problem. Just for the record, many of
hte older mechanical cameras that cite 1/125 sync speed actually register
1/100 seconds at that setting to ensure sync.  The slight difference is not
noticeable and the only way you can see the difference in speed is testing
the shutter. (Check the older reports from Modern and Pop photo were they
use to test the shutter speeds for say a Konica T3 and you will see exactly
what I mean).
