Hey,
That was study might as well have been a million years ago. The new
machines are capable of being turned up to VERY high levels for dense
objects. Even ISO 100 film can be fogged if run through these new x-ray
machines and the operator leaves it under the gun (so to speak), for any
length of time while the machine is turned up. Always request a hand
search, you can speed it up by putting naked 35mm canisters in large freezer
zip-lock bags so they can see what it is, also toss in a few rolls of ISO
3200 to help your request for a hand search. Even so they will sometimes
ask to see the film cans and even pull some film out.
