Why would you not be able to use the 28-135 in low light? The 3 uses passive
auto focus, which uses differences in contrast to achieve focus. If you try
and focus on a plain white wall, in any light, AF will not succeed. I don't
know if the Minolta uses active AF, but if it sounds as though it does.
ISO, shutter speed and aperture will have absolutley no effect on the
cameras ability to AF. The only way to improve low light AF is to use a
550EX or STE-2. These use an infra-red beam to give active AF.
