Any comments ?
Perhaps the bodies kind of EOS-3 and 1V are only able to unleash their real
capabilities with fast lenses attached ? (f/2.8 constant) I admit bearing in
mind the particular lens used (28-135) the EOS-3 wasn't able to utilize his
cross sensors, but neither the Minolta 7 (which is also able to use their
hair-cross one at f/2.8 or wide aperture).
If this is the case, after gaining some experience with 28-135 I'll probably
upgrade for either 28-70/2.8 L USM or 24-70/2.8 L USM even though in such
case giving up the IS.

Alex,
First it depends what focal length you were using. If you were at 135 in
dim light and your friend at 70mm in dim light he would have an easier time
as you would be at F5.6 and he at perhaps F4.5. Do not underestimate the
28-135mm IS lens. It is a terrific lens and personally it was my choice
over the much discussed 28-70mm F2.8L. Why? IS and 135mm were two defining
reasons. Before you rush off and sell your lens, take a look at the specs
of the 800si v. the EOS3 and see if the AF is more sensitive on one versus
another. Unless you use the same lens on each camera, say a 85mm F1.8, it is
not a fair comparison.
