Sounds like my problem. As the 2.8/70-200 Sigma has full time manual
focus, even if AF is switched on, there was no problem to override the
non-functioning AF by twisting the MF ring. And I found out, that when
I twisted the ring to infinity or to the closest focus, the AF started
to work again. Don�t know what caused this effect. BTW, the MF ring was
running absolutely smooth, while the zoom ring was almost impossible to
turn around...
