Either lens can work well for you. I guess when you say portable you will
be shooting on location - possibly in homes. Under these circumstances you
might want to ask yourself how much room you will have - you will need to
back up a little further with a 100 than with an 85.

Subject: EOS 85mm 1.8 vs 100mm 2.0

Greetz, Folks,
Ne1 know the advantages or disadvantages of choosing the 85mm 1.8 or
the 100m 2.0 other than price. I would like to purchase one or the
other today to use as a portrait lens, mostly for persons of color, with
Negroid features. I am trying to build a small portable studio and this
is an important choice for me although I haven't any experience with
either lens. Your advice and or insight is gratefully appreciated, TIA,
peace.
