Yes but the memory cards are reusable. You move the images from the
flash card to a disk or cd, wipe the flash clean, and start over with an
empty flash card.

Batteris are s different subject.

=================================

I realize that memory cards are reusuable. But how many rolls of films does
the cost of a memory card cover? How many pictures (at maximum quality) can
a memory card hold? On my last trip to Japan, I shot 20 rolls of 36 in a
week. Upon returning home, I can spend the time (yes, it is a lot!) to scan
them all in at 4000dpi or at a reduced resolution to save time, which I can
re-scan at a later time to full resolution if I want. Assuming the prospect
DSLR produces equivalent image quality, how many cards do you need to carry
to shoot and hold that many images? Please consider that, if you carry a lap
top around, it is not practical to down load pictures on the go, time and
convenience wise. And lap top must be considered an additional expense, or
the cost difference and performance penalty of it over a desk top one. And
battery is a subject. 1-2 2CR5 can comfortably cover a week of shooting at
20-40 rolls (no pop up flash), but you can either pack a bagful of
batteries, or you have to recharge every night for the next day. Not
impossible, but a hassle, and the hassle can turn into a disaster if you
forget to recharge.

Thanks,

Francis
