Sure!

If you're talking current lenses, how about:
The Canon 50mm f/1.4 (USM) or f/1.8 are both super lenses.
So is the Canon 28-105mm (USM version, not the cheapie one).
And the Tokina 17mm f/3.5.
The Canon 85, 100 and 135 primes are all good too, and there are versions of
each under $400.
And then there is the Canon 28mm f/2.8.
