Too bad B and H wanted me to email a scan of my CC ...
I see from your e-mail address you're in Japan.
Too bad B&H requested a scan ONE TIME ONLY as part of our prudent, effective, safe and unobtrusive efforts to protect YOU from credit card fraud and identity theft.
FWIW, we ask for a scan/e-mail or fax or both sides of a customer's credit card ONLY if the card was issued by a non-USA bank than then ONLY the first time the card's used for mail orders or web orders at B&H. Thereafter, if the account #s the same, no fax or e-mail is necessary. This simple bit of effort has proved REMARKABLY effective in reducing internat'l card scams and protects you at least as much as the retailer.
We've used this precautionary measure for a decade or more here and so far NOT ONE customer who's complied (and there have been tens of thousands) has EVER reported that complying has in any way compromised his/her credit card security.
