I agree that it isn't onerous and if you have a digital camera, trivially easy. If you're worried about security, fax the copy.
I also sell things over the net, and there are *lots* of funny looking orders that come in. Usually when the customer fails to reply to a confirmation ping, we assume it's fraudulent.
