I knew that I could get a s/h lens in the UK for 69 GBP (plus postage), but
Canon's repair would give me a limited guarantee, and a new aperture motor on
what is now a fairly old lens (in EF terms!).  (My lens is truly mint
externally.)

I didn't even consider eBay following an un-resolved problem with security
certificates, and no reply to my email asking for clarification.
