Hi Jim, Oh, I didn't know you were only intermittently connecting to your ISP or mail server. I'm on an always on LAN here in my home/office with broadband access so I just have my email download every 5 minutes automatically. I realize now that your problem is severe and the kind of problem that is not easily resolved locally (on your PC). Have you tried using an external mail server with a different name? What about getting a different ISP, like one here in the states with a local access), in Japan), number? Then you would be much better protected from massive SPAM attacks. What I mean is that you could get a new hotmail account and use only that account for the EOS list. Then it would be new and not subject to having your mail server's mailbox filled with junk. You could also get a USA ISP to provide you with an email address that you only use for the EOS list and access it locally. Are you on a dial up? Maybe your Norton's AV is an older version, the current version is very good and as I said completely transparent once configured. I cut my teeth on DEC 11's and PDP-8, designed and hardwired S-100 based 8080 based systems with hand written and assembled machine language programs and later the new O/S CP/M back in the day, designed and built RAM, serial and parallel I/O, and RTC boards for Heathkit H-8 and Zenith computers. I taught a micro-computer technology course back in 1982 at the local college for 3 years until I could not stand the politics that go along with being the originating instructor and designer of the curriculum of the most popular class in the entire college. I've been doing small systems since 1975 so I'm sort of an old hand too. I always think that there is something new to learn and that you cannot possibly keep up with it all but it helps to play with as much stuff as you can. Give it a try or try a different way to solve the problem.
