IS is simply a bonus over non IS. It works for me all all subjects. I
once tried shooting with Provia 400 in the camera. Even with IS, I was
constantly shooting at too low a shutter and basically all my results
were as you say pure crap. I'm no saying it can't be done, but the
restrictions of olden days no longer influence me.

Yes, there comes a point. I just bought Neatimage though, and that
allows me even high range of shooting with good results. I consider an
8 by 12 inch print at arms length my lowest quality that i feel is
acceptable. ISO 1600 can easily handle that. With Neatimage I can go
to 12 by 18, yay!

To me limits are size and weight of lens and equipment. That brings me
to my little 100-400L IS zoom. This allows me to go anywhere and get a
shot, and without tripod. ISO 1600 allows me to do it in almost any
light. I know it's not everyone's style, but it's mine. You can sit at
your big huge tripod all day for all I care. Seriously, that style of
shooting is not for me. It's too static no matter what the quality or
results look like. And staying with film, that's out of the question
for me.

Some are hunters some are fishers, I'm a hunter.
