Nice coincident: current issue of the German magazine ColorFoto has
an article on 'digi-optimized' lenses.
However, per this article: color-fringing is apparently not the
critical factor with these wide-angles, they call the problem 'pixel-
shadowing', resulting in lack of sharpness.
(at least for those cameras/sensors that have tiny lens elements on
top of each pixel, to increase light-gain; for sensors that have
additional flat layers of protection on top of it, color-fringing
might be a problem still (my view, not CF))

However, they also mention that our way of viewing digi pix is
different than the most critical way of viewing slides....with
projected slides, the edges are more easily ignored, if they survive
a non-perfect projector lens in the first place....
It's the digital way of viewing that makes things more critical as
well....

Oh well, I knew it was a good idea to get involved in Leitz
Diaskop's, projecting 4x5"....;))
(or better: 6x12cm slides from swing-lens camera's, that's about the
highest quality of lens you can get for that format (required image
circle is less than for 6x4.5cm!))
Before data beamers catch up with those, I'll be old & forgotten, not
even able to lift a camera anymore with my tired bones....;))

Willem
(now I only have to figure out a) how to project 6x24cm slides,
and/or b) how to create a continuous moving roll projection, just
like a prototype Noblex once build for their 4x5" projector)
