I have both the 85mm f/1.2L (US$1400 new at B&H) and the 85mm f/1.8 ($330 new at B&H). The more expensive L lens is a little slow to focus in some low-light situations. Nothing to worry about the great majority of the time in my experience, but I guess it depends what kind of shooting you do. Meanwhile, the f/1.8 is an excellent lens at a bargain price.
