I have a Canon 85/1.8. It's got a really nice manual focus feel to it. And I seriously doubt you'd know any difference in sharpness from the Contax. I do not know why you'd crave sharpness for portraits in any case. You can get a nice used one for a couple of hundred bucks. No adaptor needed.
