The weekly UK magazine 'Amateur Photographer' reviews the Sigma lens in the
current issue.
I only browsed through it in the newsagents, and did not buy this issue.
They were impressed, and it scored over 90% if I remember correctly.

I must admit, 'though, that all of my lenses are Canon, and I bought the 300
f4 L IS, which is a more portable lens than any f2.8, of a similar focal
length, and will still auto-focus with a 2X TC on an EOS3, if not as
quickly.

The zoom is f5.6 at 300mm, so will only auto-focus with a 1.4X TC, which
will give a 400mm f8, compared with the 100-400 Ls f5.6.

I know, that one wasn't in the original question.

It will be interesting to see how the 70-300 DO IS compares with the very
popular 100-400L for optical quality, and sales.

Cheers

Keith
