I have a friend with a D60 who is a professional photographer. He got
the Metz based on its supposed better flash shots than the 550EX.
Unfortunately, he's been just as unhappy. He says he used to get
better shots with old non-TTL flash units.

The only real solutions seems to get a Digital Rebel or 10D. Canon
really, really dropped the ball on this.

A friend of mine who is a wedding photographers uses a D60 and a 10D
with the 550EX. He told me the D60 is dead on, every single time.

The 10D off about 1/2 stop but not all the time. None of the Canon users
I know uses a Metz, only one Fuji S2 user who uses the 70MZ5. Recently
he moved to a D2H and SB800 flash. He makes his living with flash and
only now with the new SB800 and D2H does he feel it is as good as the
Canon 550EX. Nikon is not magic like some would like to believe.

I had a Metz 40MZ-3i for use with my EOS 3 and found it slightly
underexposed compared to the 550EX. If you use the 550EX properly and
account for certain subjects (bride in white will always underexpose
even with the best flash metering system). Also if you are testing any
flash film must be in the camera with TTL as film refelctivity is what
the flash metering system was made for not the film pressure plate.

I have used the Canon flashes and never had a problem. I thin kmuch of
the compaint is user error more than anything else.
