Bob, I think it's more a function of the age of the Sigma lens, and not it's
relative quality. Nor is it just Sigma. I've owned a Tokina 20-35mm lens
which didn't function correctly on a 1v, and I've seen several older Sigma
lenses that didn't work on the same camera (28-70 2.8, 500mm, etc). In fact,
I doubt Sigma's premium lenses of a particular time period would have the
same electronic interface as their consumer lenses of the same period.

With which Sigma lenses to the 1v and 1d have problems with? Only the
consumer lenses or the "pro-sumer" lenses, too? The reason I am asking is
because somebody who buys a 1v/d probably only buys pro(-sumer) lenses and
therefore might not experience any problems if these kind of lenses work
fine with the 1d/v.
