I currently am using a EOS 3 for action shooting. I am interested in primarily racing for this DSLR. What is the general opinion her for action photography (needs a clean 8x10, 16x20 would be nice)? I
I 've had an EOS 3 for about 3 years and just bought a 10D to supplement it. The quality of the photographs are excellent, almost as good as my Provia slides from my -3.
However, the metering isn't as good and I have to bracket or use the rear histogram.
And the auto-focus as well as the finder clarity is definitely a let-down. From the -3, you feel like you've gone from a professional series camera to an amateur series. Perhaps a pro-am, but still amateur. It's not as horrible as the D60 which I felt had Rebel-like AF, but it's only barely at the same level as the EOS-7.
