A 100m would act like a... (you got the idea). Personally, I don't have one, but I'd go for the 1.4! Reviews are superb and there is a reason why Canon uses it to benchmark most cameras. Autofocus will definitely benefit from the extra light and the USM drive :) Besides, with the relative 80mm the lens would produce, you'll have quite a good minimum distance of 45cm/1.5ft. For comparison, the 50mm Macro macro goes down to 23cm/0.8ft. If you need to go closer occasionally, get an extension tube. This way you can use all lenses for macro work!
