The 2.5 Compact Macro just felt like a terrible lens when I used someone elses. The 2.8 100mm macro is nice, though, and I love mine. But in 50mm, I've used a 1.4 and I own a 1.8. I really like the 1.8, and I'm not sure that 50mm f/1.4 is worth the extra cost. Instead get yourself a fast wide lens.
