A digital version of the EOS 3 is long awaited by Canon users. There is
certainly a huge price gap between the 20D and the 1D MkII. However,
technically speaking, I can't see what Canon can come up with. If they stick
to an 8 MP sensor, it will be yet another 8MP DSLR camera in their line up
and it will have a hard time competing with the 20D if the price is too
high. If the price is too close to the 20D it may eventually kill 20D sales.
If they go for a 10 MP or more sensor it will endanger 1D MkII sales.
The solution could be introducing a digital version of the EOS 3 and
replacing the 20D at the same time (which is going to have a hard time
competing with the 350D, I guess).
