OK I have one more wedding story. This happens to be my own. Last month I got re-married. We hemmed and hawed about what kind of wedding to have. In the end, we decided to head off to Tortola in the Carribean. It was a close call on getting all the paper worked in order with the government. But it happened. We hired a photog to shoot some shots, and you can tell his experience showed in the shots he took
But still, before the event, I went on a dive. I met some people and made friends, and invited them to the wedding. One offered to take photos also, with my camera. She really got into taking photos. Here she is in action with my 5D: http://www.zuik.net/5D/wDSCF0132.jpg Now did she frame thing right, get the exposure right. Not really. I put the camera in P and let her fire away. Here is one shot she got as seen in the previous photo: http://www.zuik.net/5D/w_MG_2506.jpg OK we are not as nice looking as my daughter, but hey. Taking a photo is not rocket science either. You can never have too many photographers at a wedding. Naturally it would have been difficult for me to shoot my own wedding. Perhaps the most important thing is to make sure the women look good. Still, she got some nice shots, for example: http://www.zuik.net/5D/w_MG_2418.jpg OK enough photos before I become too self-conscious. Photographers are probably the worst subjects to photograph. The point being is that a photographer that is given license to shoot an event can be as good as the professional. But the professional is probably going to execute better. There is no right or wrong in your choice.
