I can't say anything for sure, but I'd try a different Canon service centre. Or maybe get mad and tell them to "fix it right this time" ;-) I bought a used 28-135 IS and had very good luck with it on my EOS 10d. Never had an error, absolutely trouble free and very sharp. There is no long term fix and this is why I'm always a bit worried buying a used lens. For example if you had sold your immediately after service the new buyer would have been happy - for awhile at least. Yes, people do stuff like this, how else to get rid of a lens that has a problem that reoccurs. Not sure if you bought your new, but why not upgrade to a 30s or something and see if that helps. It seems to be your combination, since it worked fine on the Elan II. Have you tried it on a different body when it's in fault mode? For what it's worth, another used lens of this type goes for about $350 used in great shape. Might be cheaper than another repair or two. It's not the end of the world to retire a lens and just get on with life. I've been either real lucky with Canon EF lenses, or they make them good. Sure we hear about a lot with problems, but of course we don't hear about those that don't have problems. And sometimes things happen to a lens the owner never suspects that cause these problems. Like maybe your 3 year old dropped it and didn't tell you? What did the repair centre say they fixed these times you had it done? -- Jim Davis, Owner, Eastern Beaver Company: http://easternbeaver.com/ Motorcycle Relay Kits, Modulator Kits, Powerlet, Centech, Posi-Lock, Parts. 1988 K100RS 'Tashoku' in Japan - 1991 ST1100 'Sumi Tsunami' in America! * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
