Not true. If you want to do some precision driving, a sloppy steering and a 
jerky throttle can kill all your best effort. The same with lens as the 
"business end" of focusing.

is enough light getting to the sensor in the body
(behind the lens, but not in it), focus should be
achieveable . If not, the body/algorithm is at fault,
certainly not the lens.
