Might be fast, but without IS it's still hard to handle... wait, child. Your day will come :-) My money is on the 70-200 2.8 IS. Yes, it's a tad slower, but it was worth every dollar spent. You sound like me... only I'm waitin for the 1Ds Mark III and then I'll have to fork over money for all new lenses, since the rumor seems to be firming up around the issue of a new lens mount... meaning everything in the gear bag cannot be sold as it has to be carried around with the original 1Ds that I planned on using as a backup....
