All I know is what I hear from two friends who are well-connected with the 
folks at Canon... the
"rumor" (unsubstantiated as it may be) is that the 1Ds Mark 3 will have a new 
lens mount, and all
new lenses.... that the technology will be so good that the current L glass 
won't be good enough
anymore...

But, please remember, what I hear is unsubstantiated. One of my friends has 
been selling cameras
for over 20 years and he has heard the same thing. Breaks MY heart.... I will 
NOT go there if it
happens. And yes, I agree, it would be STUPID.
