The above blog attributes the new lens mount rumor to a Canon rep. That alone is enough for me to ignore it. Let us not forget that, over the years, its been well demonstrated that Canon's sales reps have no inside information. In fact, most of them don't seem to know their A$$ from a hole in the ground. Manufacturer reps are glorified door to door salesmen, and the manufacturers aren't going to trust them with sensitive information any sooner than necessary. I'd be willing to bet most of Canon's reps learned about the 1d MkIII the same time we did. That said, a larger diameter lens mount could offer certain advantages for wide angle lenses on a full frame body, which is why the rumor is plausible. But I can't see Canon building a body that is truly incompatible with it's existing lens line. The cost of building a second full line of lenses with a new mount (even if they were identical to existing lenses in all other respects) would be pohibitively high, especially given the low volume of sales for a body like the 1Ds MKIII. Bob Meyer I don't suffer from insanity... I enjoy every minute of it. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
