Sorry Ken, but this discussion is about the as yet unannounced 1Ds MKIII, not the 1D MKIII (no -s). The 1Ds as I'm sure you're aware has a full-frame sensor, as opposed to the 1D, which has a 1.3x crop. I agree that a complete lens mount change would be suicide, but I can see canon enlarging the mouth of the mount and providing a simple and fully functional adapter to allow EF lenses to mount. However, I'm not really sure what that would buy them - in terms of electronic gadgetry, there isn't any reason to ditch EF - there is plenty of room to grow with this mount (although my optics isn't that flash so maybe a larger throat would be useful in that regard).
