A vacuum is "something". There could thus not have been a vacuum only
prior to the bang.

To introduce variation in the search of focus: There could have been
one of two things prior to the bang, something - in other words
everything - or nothing.

The former would be explained by the fact that there must have been
other universes banged into existence from which follows that our
particular universe comes from something.

The latter would be explained by the fact that there must have been
only one big bang and one universe.

I state the above in contradiction, since there are various
contadictory facts going around in the minds of the beholders, begging
better understanding of the word "fact".
