Annuals do not get filed by "N" number and, as I understand it, are used more to justify renewal of an IA's privileges and not to generate any annual database. It's even worse than that. Many aircraft records only have to be retained until 1 year has passed or the work is superceded or repeated. So, each annual inspection record may be discarded once the next inspection has been completed.
