Bob.
Getting water in your tanks seems truly mysterious.
You keep the plane in a hangar and are using exclusively 100ll.
If your plane would be outside, I would suspect that the day night
temperature differences let your tanks breath humid air which at night
condenses in the tanks, thus generating water.
But I kept my plane outside for the last 4 years and NEVER, Never had
water
in the tanks, until now. I was using all kinds of approved Gasoline,
100LL,Avgas80, AutoGas. Never water in the tank. Now with the introduction
of ethanol in Autogas in California (including the Bayarea) Autogas has
the
tendency to absorb water. The ethanol mixes with water AND gasoline, but
seems to be separated by the Gascolator. So I had some water there for a
few
flights. This is all gone now since I switched over to AVGAS only.

In your case, I would really start in believing on higher forces if you
keep
having water in your tanks.

The
large quanity is coming from the header tank or the sump, Iam not quite
sure. The amount of water will fill the drain cup , sometimes once to 1
1/2
times. Never had any problem with it getting to the engine but I always
check before every flight and when I stop. I just can't figure out where
it's coming from. The tankes are not always completly filled as I keep the
plane at a private strip with no fuel and have to fly about 10 minutes
back
to the field after refueling.
