I have a 1946 coupe s/n 2862 and I can't find the mystery part on my plane. Was this added onto later planes or is mine missing? I just saw my previous Ercoupe that I put it into over 10 years ago and the windows still look great. In fact I specifically asked them if they had changed the windows and they said no. I did line the slot that the windows go into with felt or crushed velvet so they do get scratched. The only thing I do not particularly like is that because it is more flexible you do have to be careful leaning or pushing on them. I don't remember what thickness I used on the other Ercoupe but I used .060 this time. Maybe .080 would have been a better choice for the rear windows. Lexan is cheap so even if you scratch them and change them every couple years it is no big deal because it is so easy to work with. It covers the area between the nose bowl and engine case, from the case half to the base of #4 cylinder. I'm presently qoing through my annual and I see that part just like your picture. Just to be sure I'll look first thing tomorrow and get the exact mounting location for you.
